For the entire month of July thus far, we have repeatedly seen video recordings of police officers brutally slaying Alton Sterling and we have watched Philando Castile dying slowly while the police officer who shot him stands watching with his gun trained on him. Then came the murder of Alva Braziel who we see shot dead by police while holding his arms straight up in the air above his head. The footage of these slayings of black men born and raised in America has been watched over and over again even in foreign countries all around the world tearing open the barely scabbed wounds from all the murders that police officers have been exonerated of in the last two years. While this highlights the terrorism that black people in America face on a daily basis, never knowing when a simple traffic stop or any interaction with the police will cost them their lives, the question is being raised if being inundated by these images day in and day out will desensitize people around the world to the plight of America's heavily melanated citizens. Will the world at large get used to the sight of a black man being slain before their eyes? Will these images cease to hold the same impact for them and the world begin to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the war on black men in America?
